Shirley Rosella Zielinski (nee: O’Connor), age 90, passed peacefully into her eternal sleep on July 30, 2016.

She was born on May 31st, 1926, the oldest of four children of Roy and Mary (Markel) O’Connor. Mrs. Zielinski grew up in Detroit before meeting her husband, Eugene. They married in September 1946 and raised their two children, David and Diane, in Detroit.

The Zielinski family spent summers in Lexington, and ultimately turned their vacation home into their retirement residence. Mrs. Zielinski loved volunteering her time, and both she and her husband were active with the VFW, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Ave Maria Parish and Altar Society, as well as knitting crafts for the local hospitals and nursing homes.
Mrs. Zielinski was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, Eugene; daughter, Diane Dubrico; parents; and siblings Jerry, Maureen, and Margaret.

She leaves behind a son, David, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many friends and extended family who will miss her smile.

Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. on Tuesday and 9:30- 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Rosary Devotions will be held at 7 P.M. Tuesday evening. Funeral mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.
