WANDA BALL POPEJOY
Wanda was born on May 9, 1930, in Missouri. After moving west to Fresno in 1950, Wanda worked as Grocery Clerk for Alpha Beta Supermarkets and was a Union Representative for Retail Clerks Credit Union 1288 for 27 years. Upon retiring from Alpha Beta as a bookkeeper, Wanda embraced the travel Industry, becoming a Travel Agent. This opportunity fulfilled her dream of seeing the world, and see the world she did. From walking the Great Wall of China with her dear friend Shirley, to visiting the Parthenon in Greece, Wanda traveled the Globe. Over the years Wanda and her best friend Barbara had many adventures together as well. They were two peas in a pod sharing countless laughs.
Wanda settled back in Fresno in 1988 where she resided until her passing. She was reunited with an 'old friend' and in 1990 married Bobbie Popejoy. She and Bob were active in the Country Swing Dancers Club. She loved to dance with Bob and cherished all of their good times together. In her later years, Wanda volunteered for the California Highway Patrol and most recently at Highway City Thrift Store where she had many friends.
Above all Wanda loved her family more than anything. Her son, Steve Ball gave her four amazing grandchildren, Michelle, Shane, Jason and Cory. She adored her daughter-in-law Susie and her two boys Ryan and Sean. Wanda's pride and joy were her great-grandchildren, George, London and Blake.
Wanda will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, loyal friend and an amazing woman. Wanda was truly one of the most remarkable women you'd ever meet. Wanda's kindness, generosity and concern for others is her legacy. Her love of family, friends and the Good Lord is embedded in all of our hearts and we are grateful for having her in our lives.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Chapel of the Light,, 1620 Belmont Fresno, Ca. A gathering of friends and family will immediately follow at Yosemite Falls Cafe, Ashlan/99.
