John Allen Morrison, 80, of Aztec, passed away Feb. 11, 2006, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. He was born April 3, 1925, to Irven and Nellie Morrison, at the home of his mother's parents, John and Maud Austin, in Aztec.

Johnny grew up, farmed, raised a family and enjoyed his retirement years along with family, friends and neighbors at Center Point's peaceful Animas River Valley.

As a young man, Johnny helped his mother, a widow with six children, keep the family farm going after the loss of his dad in 1944. He continued farming with his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Lansberry, who worked along with him. They were a hardworking team, and when they weren't growing potatoes, corn or alfalfa, they enjoyed traveling extensively and spent many winters in San Carlos, Mexico.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Andrae; grandson, Jake Andrae; his father, Irven A. Morrison; his mother and stepfather, Nellie and Irvin Randlemon; brothers, Lynn Morrison, Joe Morrison; and sister, Evelyn Norton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Morrison; daughter, Alene VanDegrift and husband, George; son, Fred Morrison; son-in-law, Mark Andrae; granddaughter, Christy Fasulo and husband, Anthony; grandson, Jeff Andrae; three great-grandchildren, F0rancesca, Adam and Amanda Fasulo; sisters, Marilyn Hardison and husband, John, and Deanna Blythe; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny is also survived by many friends who would most likely agree that he "did it his way."

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Aztec Presbyterian Church, 205 N. Church Ave., with the Rev. Dwain DePew officiating. John's final resting place will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with private burial where he will join his daughter, Carolyn, and grandson, Jake.

Pallbearers are Lorren Blythe, Lawrence Blythe, Anthony Fasulo, James Foster, Jeremy Foster and Scott Andrae.

Honorary pallbearers include Buster Jacquez, Buster Dial, Robert Quebman, John Hardison, Hank Knowlton and Richard Blancett.

Johnny was a founding member of the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department, so in lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to CPFD, 16 Road 2755, Aztec, NM 87410.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave. in Aztec, (505) 334-9332.
