Samuel E. Wilson was born March 28, 1844 and died October 18, 1923. He was the son of Silas & Nancy Jane Atteberry Wilson. He married Eliza A. Odell on June 7, 1863. They had nine children--seven of them preceded him in death.
He enlisted in the Civil War in 1861 and joined Co. G, 56th Illinois Infantry. He was honorably discharged the same year on account of disability.
