James Arvin Ter Louw, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Synhorst) Ter Louw, was born December 28, 1945, in Pella. He died on July 28, 2001, at his home in Pella. He was 55.

He grew up in Pella and graduated from Pella High School. On July 2, 1965, he married Helen Faye Wyma in Pella. He was an entrepreneur and a member of the Third Reformed Church, Lions Club, and the Gideons. He enjoyed motorcycle hill climbing and was a three-time American Motorcyclist Association champion. He was the founder of Mission Walk International.

Jim was survived by his father and stepmother, Paul and Vernice Ter Louw of Pella; his wife, Helen Faye Ter Louw of Pella; two sons and their wives, Joshua and Angela Ter Louw of St. Charles, Illinois, and Kevin and DuAnne Ter Louw of Vianopolis, Brazil; a daughter and her husband, Kim and Wade Wilkie of Carroll, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

He was also survived by a brother and his wife, Stephen Paul and Kathy Ter Louw of Pella; and two sisters and their husbands, Connie and Carl Duinink of Knoxville and Mary and Barry Sparks of Newton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy.

The funeral service was held July 28 at Third Reformed Church in Pella, with the Rev. Kevin Korver officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
