Services for Dorothy Helen Ter Louw, 68, of Pella, who died August 4, 1991 at Pella Community Hospital, were held August 7 at First Baptist Church. Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.

The Rev. Gary Smith officiated at the services. Music was provided by Rita Van Den Broek, organist, and Ted Dykstra, soloist. Pallbearers were Eric Ser Vaas, Don and John Synhorst, Jerome Schakel, Ken Hackert and Melvin Ter Louw.

Mrs. Ter Louw was born on August 12, 1922 near Pella, the daughter of John D. and Gertrude (Roorda) Synhorst. She attended West Amsterdam country school near Pella and graduated from Pella Public High School in 1940. She taught rural school for four years at East and West Amsterdam.

On Dec. 28, 1943, she married Paul Ter Louw. They farmed west of Pella. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, J. Lee Dendurent; and one brother, Gerald (Joe) Synhorst.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, James and Stephen, both of Pella; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Connie) Duinink of Knoxville and Mrs. Barry (Mary) Sparks of Newton; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Beurt (Corena) Ser Vaas of Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Abraham Synhorst of Knoxville; her stepfather, Henry Van Eckren of Pella; and four stepsisters.
