Jonathan James Sossoman

Jonathan James Sossoman, 27, of Topeka, died Thursday, June 28, 1990, at a Topeka hospital where he had been admitted earlier Thursday after a long illness.

Dr. W. Mike Scamman, Shawnee County district coroner, said Mr. Sossoman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.


Mr. Sossoman was in the Kansas Army National Guard at Forbes Field and was graduated from the Army Helicopter Mechanic School. He also had been an auto mechanic at Sears.


He was born June 29*, 1963, in Kankakee, Ill., the son of John W. and Lucinda A. Carvey Sossoman. He came with the family to Topeka in 1976 from Redford, Mich., and was graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1982.

Mr. Sossoman was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Topeka.


Survivors include his parents, John and Lucinda Sossoman, Topeka; two sisters, Tanya M. Teishaw, Youngstown, Ohio, and Holly F. Sossoman, Topeka; a brother, Todd M. Sossoman, Topeka; and grandparents, James Carvey, Lubbock, Texas, John I. Sossoman, New York Mills, Minn., and Elwin and Kathleen Hertz, Donovan, Ill.


Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tibbitts-Griffin Funeral Chapel. Burial is pending. Mr. Sossoman will lie in state from 9 a.m. today to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, where family and friends will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 605 N. Kansas Ave.
