Harold Garst Hoover, 93, of 304 E. Robinhood Lane, Bloomington, died at 6:50 a.m. Saturday (March 19, 2005) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Harold was born Feb. 27, 1912, at Downs, a son of the late Robert Asa Hoover and the late Nellie Florence Garst. He married Eunice G. Yordy on Oct. 3, 1937, at Heyworth. She died Oct. 5, 1999.
Harold is survived by one daughter, Sherrilyn Rice of Nacogdoches, Texas; one son, Randall (Terri) Hoover of Florrisant, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ferne Hoover of McHenry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice Hoover; one son, Gregory Hoover; and seven brothers and sisters.
He graduated from LaSalle University in 1938.
He retired after 19 years from the former Meadows Corp., where he worked as a secretary-treasurer. Prior to that he had worked for the U.S. Department of Transportation as regional executive officer. He was a former member of East White Oak Bible Church and had been a church Bible teacher for more than 50 years and was a life member of PTA.
