Professional Basketball Player. For ten seasons (1968 to 1978), he played at the center position in the National Basketball Association with the San Francisco Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, Buffalo Braves and Phoenix Suns. Born Dale Wayne Schlueter, he was raised in Denver, Colorado where he attended George Washington High School. He played collegiate basketball at Colorado State University and was selected by San Francisco during the 6th round of the 1967 NBA Draft. In 586 regular season games, he compiled 3,130 points and 3,034 rebounds. He has the distinction of being on the Trail Blazers' inaugural roster (1970-1971) and during the 1971-1972 season, he produced a career-high 947 points and 860 rebounds. During the 1972-1973 season, he had the misfortune of playing on the Philadelphia 76ers' squad which set a league record of 9 wins, 73 losses. The most defeats to date for a full NBA regular season. After retiring as a player, he remained associated with the Trail Blazers and worked for their community department. He died from cancer.
