POLICE PROBE MIDVLE MAN'S DEATH
Farmington, Davis County police officers are seeking further information Friday into the cause of the death of Mike A. Pappa, 27, 109 Fifth Ave., Midvale, whose body was found early in the day in an auto parked at the side of highway 91 west of Centerville.
The body was found by Capt. Harry Doyle, state highway patrolman, whose investigation disclosed that the car had been stopped at the spot since about 7 a.m. Sheriff Joseph Holbrook and Dan E. Lee, deputy, said there was no evidence to indicate foul play. The victim apparently pulled to the side of the road for a nap and left the motor running. Fumes from a leaky car heater evidently filled the car and overpowered him as he slept, they said.
Justice of the Peace William Rigby of Centerville, exofficio coroner, conducted an investigation at the scene and later ordered blood tests be made. He said the victim had been dead six to eight hours when the body was discovered.
Mike Albert Pappa was born Aug. 15, 1918 at Midvale, a son of Matthews and Anna Radovich Pappa. He married Leona Silcox March 9, 1939. A former miner at Lark, he had been a foreman at Ogden arsenal until three weeks ago.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Shirley, and his mother, all of Midvale; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Crittenden, Mrs. Alice Mugleston, Mrs. Katherine Kladis, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Julia Visher, Miss Edda Pappa, Midvale; two brothers, Dan and John Pappa, Midvale.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Union Mortuary of Bountiful.
