Madison Courier---June 20, 2001

George E. Buchanan, 73, of Fairbanks, Alaska, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in that city.

He was born June 10, 1928, in Madison, the son of Albert and Blanche Meeks Buchanan. He had lived in Fairbanks since 1966, and was an electrical contractor with his own business, Buchanan Electric. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater.

Surviving are two sons, William and Edward Buchanan, both of Fairbanks; two daughters, Linda May of Terryville, Conn., and Jennifer Stugart of Fairbanks; two brothers, Donald Sarver of Madison and James Frederick Buchanan of Indianapolis; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy Buchanan, in 1992.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Alaska time Thursday at Northern Lights Mortuary in Fairbanks, with burial in Northern Lights Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
