Arthur (Whitey) Dietrich Jr., 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in San Antonio.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating. Organist was Marjorie Ottmers.
Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.
Dietrich was born July 31, 1940, the son of Arthur Dietrich Sr. and Esther Anna Durst Dietrich.
He married Jeanne Knopp of Fredericksburg Jan. 5, 1979, and she survives.
For 28 years Dietrich worked for the City of Fredericksburg and he was Assistant Director of Public Works. He attended Fredericksburg public schools and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by nine children and their families, including Derrick and Wendy Dietrich of Uvalde, Darren and Heather Schneider of Pearland, Holly and Richard Klein of San Angelo, Melanie and Pete Magre of San Antonio, Colleen and Logan Ketron of Fredericksburg, Colette and Don Weinheimer of Fulshear, Dana and Neal Schaetter of Austin, Margo and Corey Anderegg of Fredericksburg, and Shelley and Robert Gibbens of Karnes City, along with 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters and their spouses, including Raymond and Kathy Dietrich of Bryan, Louis and Marie Dietrich of Harper, Mrs. Martin (Dora) Feuge and Lorene Avant, both of Fredericksburg.
He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, including Walter and his wife, Harriet, Fuhrmann and Guenther Maenius of Fredericksburg, and a sister-in-law, Vivian Neffendorf of Fredericksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Leola) Fuhrmann and Mrs. Guenther (Vernell) Maenius.
Pallbearers included Wayne Avant, Charles Avant, Dennis Feuge, Lance Feuge, Gerald Feuge, Dale Fuhrmann, Brian Maenius and Lewis Dietrich Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, the Fredericksburg High School Billie Booster Club or the charity of choice.
