Joe was employed for many years at Barker's Mobil that he eventually bought and became Joe's Service Center. He also worked at the University of Maine, retiring in 2009. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, camp fire and his camp lights. Family was very important to Joe, and brought great satisfaction and joy to his life. Even in retirement, he was always doing something especially helping out at Jackson's Automotive, always with a smile and a kind word. His time spent at Parks Pond Campground were special moments in his life.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda (Doane) Emerson; three children, Joseph Emerson JR and his wife, Carla of Argyle, Irene Pehrson and her husband, Dennis of Indian Island; Kendall Emerson and his wife, Cathy of Old Town; 5 grandchildren Amanda Emerson, Nicole Emerson, Joey Emerson, Domonic Dow, Sammy Hayward; great-grandchildren, Sierra Wolfe, James Emerson, Danny Pelletier; 3 sisters, Linda Stratton and husband, Keith of Lincoln, Peggy Cote and her husband, Richard of Alton, Charlotte McClure and husband, Mac of NC; a brother, Fred Emerson and his companion, Donna of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews, and many Parks Pond campground friends.
He was predeceased by granddaughter, Susan St. Louis, his parents, and in-laws, Alvin and Thelma Doane, Irene Jackson and Fred Rotolo; and close friend, Wayne Barker.
