Funeral services for Joy Sue Bruce, 70, of Paris are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, at East Wood Street Church of Christ where she was a member.
Herman Jackson and Steve Delaney will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is planned from 4-8 p.m. today at McEvoy Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Chosen as pallbearers are John Thomas Rose, Charlie Rose, Justin Bruce, Keith Hodge, Bart Sturdivant and Kelly Burke.
Bruce died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Henry County Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 26, 1941, to the late Knox Henry Throgmorton and Lucy Ester Crews.
Bruce was married on July 1, 1961, to the late Jimmy Ray Bruce, who died Oct. 2, 2010.
She is survived by a daughter, Amy Rose, and a son, Troy (Jan) Bruce, both of Paris; three sisters: Edna (Edgar) Phelps and Lola May Nanney, both of Paris, and Daulene (Kenneth) Norwood of Germantown; a brother, Veltman Throgmorton of Paris;
Four grandchildren: John Thomas Rose, Charlie Rose, Justin Bruce and Ashley (Keith) Hodge, all of Paris; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Scott Lewis.
Bruce was a graduate of Henry High School and was a nursing assistant at the former Rhea Clinic until an accident in 1963 left her a paraplegic. She also operated a daycare at home for 23 years.
A family member said she loved her family, church, small children, rose bushes and flowers.
