Josiah (Si) Puffenbarger, 83, died at his home near Blue Grass on Sunday, Sept. 24. He was born April 25, 1878, a son of the late James Jerome Puffenbarger and Mary Magdeline Creal Puffenbarger. He was married to Lucy Ann Slayton in 1896. Nine children survive: Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Grogg, Blue Grass; Mrs. Don (Blanche) Helmick, of Waynesboro; Mrs. Robert (Alice) Arbogast, Monterey; Mrs. Walter (Ann) Neil, Staunton; Miss Virginia Puffenbarger, Hightown; Mrs. Edward (Eva) Botkin, Staunton; Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Vann, Norfolk; Kennie Puffenbarger, of Blue Grass; and Harry Puffenbarger of Hightown. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Cora Puffenbarger, Franklin, W.Va., 33 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Wimer Cemetery at Blue Grass by the Rev. Harding Nelson. Interment was by Obaugh Funeral Home.
