Ethel Jane Grogg, formerly of Monterey, died Monday, June 15, 1987 at King's Daughters' Hospital. She was born Feb. 22, 1897 at Blue Grass, a daughter of Si and Lucy Ann Slaton Puffenbarger. On Oct 15, 1915, she was married to Robert Lee Grogg. who died in November 1950. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy and Highland Senior citizens. She was a cook at Highs Restaurant in Monterey and also in Highland County schools for a number of years. She has been a resident of Oak Hill Nursing Home for six months. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Nipper of Monterey; two sons, Elzie of Churchville and Alfred Grogg of West Chester, Pa.; five sisters, Annie Neil of Staunton; Virginia Puffenbarger of Bridgewater; Blanche Helmick of Waynesboro; Dorothy Vann of Virginia Beach and Alice Arbogast of Blue Grass; a brother, Ken Puffenbarger of Blue Grass; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday (today) at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Glen Adkins. Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery.
