Mrs. Bessie Shellenberger, 68, widow of the late Charles H. Shellenberger of southwest of Garrett, died at the Garrett Convalescent home at 2 a.m. Tuesday from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mrs. Shellenberger had been in failing health for several years and entered the convalescent home at Garrett last May.
She was born in Noble county on March 11, 1892, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Cramer. She had resided in the Garrett area nearly all of her lifetime. The home is two miles southwest of Garrett.
In 1918, she and Mr. Shellenberger were married in Fort Wayne. Her husband preceded her in death in 1957.
Surviving are a son, Harold Shellenberger of Rt. 1, Garrett; a step-daughter, Mrs. Edna Freiden of Oak Park, Ill.; a brother, Franklin Cramer of Mishawaka; a sister, Mrs. Elmer Foote of Rt. 3, Auburn. and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Shellenberger was a member of the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren, southwest of Garrett.
The body was removed to the McKee funeral home in Garrett where it will remain until noon Thursday when it will be taken to the church for funeral services which will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Officiating at the services will be the pastor of the church, Rev. Glenn Mulligan, and burial will follow in Embry cemetery, southwest of Garrett.
