AGED FARMER IS FOUND DEAD IN HIS BED AT HOME

An 81-year-old retired farmer, Charles Homer Shellenberger, was found dead about noon Thursday at his home one and one-half miles southwest of Garrett.

His son, Harold Shellenberger, who resides at the southwest edge of Garrett, found the body on a daybed in the living room when he went to his parents' home for a visit. His mother, Bessie, an invalid, did not know her husband had died.

Death apparently resulted from I a heart attack suffered about 5 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Shellenberger had suffered from a heart ailment for the past several years.

He was a native of Mercer, O., born Jan. 5, 1876, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Silas Shellenberger. He lived in Fort Wayne for a number of years before moving to the farm in Keyser township, Rt. 1, Garrett, in 1929.

On Aug. 20, 1918, in a ceremony at Fort Wayne, he married Bessie Cramer. She survives with the son, Harold; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Frieden, Oak Park, Ill.; two brothers, Oscar of Delphos, O., and Eugene of Rockford, O.; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Hinton, Celina, O.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Shellenberger was a mem-ber of the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren.

The body was removed to the McKee funeral home in Garrett where it remained until it was taken at noon Sunday to the Cedar Creek church for funeral rites at 2 p.m. The Rev. Glenn Mulligan, pastor, officiated at the services with burial in Embry cemetery, southwest of Garrett.
