Early Life: Glendon was born October 1, 1926, in Vernal, Utah, to Archie Albert and Ora Bell Perry Johnson. He was the fourth child of eight that created a very loving and strong family. They were taught and learned the value of hard work on the family farm. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1945 and entered the United States Army one month later, during World War II.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following his military service, Glendon attended Utah State Agricultural School in Logan. He later attended Brigham Young University and graduated in Accounting in 1953. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the East Central States from 1948 to 1950. After returning home, he married the dark-haired beauty from Idaho who had waited for him while he was on his mission. On June 23, 1950, Glendon was married for eternity to Lela Wadsworth in the Idaho Falls Temple and had two daughters. They just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Glendon and Lela lived in Springville, Utah, from 1953 to 2013, when they moved to Legacy House Assisted Living in Spanish Fork. He was employed as an accountant for 38 years by W.W. Clyde Construction Company. As very active member of The Church Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a faithful servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ. He served in many positions during his time here on earth. He was a ward financial clerk, YMMIA leader and stake superintendent of the MIA. He served as senior president of the 51st quorum of the seventy, doing missionary work. He was a member of the high council, a bishop, and a stake president. He and Lela also served at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. Glendon C. Johnson passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, in Spanish Fork, Utah. He had struggled for 23 years with Parkinson's Disease. He was 87 years old.
Survived By: His wife, Lela; his daughters: UTawna (Ron) Witney, Springville; Robin (Wayne) Carter, Spanish Fork; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Venil and Merlin; and sisters: Lora, EulaRae and Myrna.
Preceded In Death By: His parents and two brothers, Eldred and Doyle.
