Kathy was born to Paul and Eudoira(Bailey)Smith in Unionville, Iowa on August 8, 1952. She received her education from Moulton-Udell High School. She ran an in-home day care for years. Kathy had a variety of interests from taking care of children, reading romance novels, eating out, playing Bingo, gardening and houseplants to crossword puzzles, journaling and social media. Kathy loved talking on the phone to her sisters. Her sister Janet would spend time painting her fingernails. Kathy enjoyed singing hymns with friends. She also enjoyed getting fresh air by sitting outside and taking her grandkids on golf cart rides.
Kathy is survived by her children, Tom(Paula)Young of Mystic, C. Ryan(Kim)Young of Mystic and Jill(Cody)Babbitt of Plano; grandchildren Brianne Young, Sierra Young, Alanna Young, Dylan and Hayle Young, Emmett & Bryleigh Babbitt; three step-grandchildren, Lane, Sam and Tilar; one great granddaughter, Lilith; one brother, Don Smith; and two sisters, Diana Herman and Janet Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers; Keith, Ron, Jim and Roger Smith.
A graveside service for Kathy will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Taylor Cemetery near Unionville, Iowa, with Holly Oden officiating. Memorials may be given to the family.
