Milton was born to Alfred and Eva Wilson Nelson. He attended a country school near Garfield, and graduated from the Garfield High School in 1937. He attended an aircraft maintenance school at Geiger Field at Spokane and joined the Army Air Corps Oct. 17, 1942, and was discharged Feb. 1, 1946, as a tech sergeant.

He married Margaret Evers Aug. 11, 1945, and the couple made their home at Farmington where they farmed. Mrs. Nelson died in 2008.

He was a 60- plus year member of the Garfield American Legion.
