ROSEDALE - Sarah Ellen Birchfield, 79, of Rosedale, died at 10:04 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Chicago to John Brashears and Emma Kehoe. Her husband of 56 years, Richard Birchfield, died April 5, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Susan Birchfield of Terre Haute, and Leah Ann Benger and husband Gary of Olathe, Kans.; five grandchildren, David, Daniel, James, Peter and Emily; and one great-grandchild, Tyler. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John "Jack" Brashears.
She loved to read a liked gardening.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., in Terre Haute, with the Rev. Larry Lilly officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Wednesday.
