Chesapeake - Robert "RC" Allen, 87, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013. He was a native of Pitt Co., NC a member of Sweeethaven Baptist Church, an associate member of River Ridge Chapel, and Churchland Masonic Lodge # 276. RC was the founder of Allen's Churchland Barber Shop and an Army Veteran of Korea.
RC was married to the love of his life for 67 years Blanche Hemby Allen; children, Robert "Bobby" C. Allen, Jr. and his wife Mary Lou Allen of Nags Head, NC, Zella A. Ivey and husband Wayne Ivey of Chesapeake, VA, Teresa A. Kelly and her husband Jack V. Kelly of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Heather A. Allen of Santa Barbara, CA, Sarah Ivey of Suffolk, VA, Tracy Ivey of Tucson, AZ, Pvt. 1st Class Allen V. Kelly of Ft. Campbell, KY and Robert Kelly of Suffolk, VA; his sister May Pegram of Kernsville, NC.
A funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Loving Funeral Home Churchland Chapel by Pastor Cary Borker and Pastor Gary Good with interment to follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Sunday from 4-5:30 p.m. and they suggest memorial contributions to the Churchland Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund or to Sweethaven Baptist Church Music and Choir Fund.
