Matthew Brion McDonald, 23, of East Peoria, formerly of Farmington, Ill., passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, in East Peoria.
He was born in Peoria on Aug. 13, 1990, to Brion and Sandy (Castor) McDonald. He graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 2008.
Matt is survived by his parents, Brion (Debbie) McDonald of Hanna City and Sandy McDonald of East Peoria; sister, Nikki (Todd) Roepenack of Pekin; grandparents, Nancy (Eldon) Schoedel of Peoria, Bruce (Janis) Castor of East Peoria and Doris McDonald of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hugh L. McDonald.
Matt was a great athlete growing up, playing basketball and baseball. He really enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, trap shoot and ride four-wheelers, dirt bikes and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, but most of all, he loved to fish.
He worked for Perley Cable Construction as a directional bore operator.
Matt had a big heart for his family and others, and would do anything to help someone in need. He volunteered his time and skills to help in the relief effort after the Washington tornado.

Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery.
