He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Frank Shanks of Marble Hill, MO; L.J. Shanks of North Augusts, SC; four sisters, Almeta Baker of Marble Hill, MO; Verona Wilder of Marble Hill, MO; Lou Mazzarrella of Wood River, IL; Marybeth Grant of Wood River, IL; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
His parents and a son, Dewayne, preceded him in death.
Services were Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, followed by burial in Baker Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW of Marble Hill.
