Weldon B. Shanks, of Marble Hill, died August 27, 1994 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was 62. He was born March 17, 1932 near Marble Hill, son of Marvin and Ruby (Leadbetter) Shanks.
Mr. Shanks was a retired millwright with LaClede Steel. Co.
He was a member of the VFW in Cottage Hills, IL; National Rifle Assoc.; Franklin Masonic Lodge of Alton, IL; and United Steel Workers Union.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include two daughters, Lena Payne of Marble Hill, MO; Pam Bollinger of Marble Hill, MO; one step-daughter, Donna Seets of Casa Grande, AZ; three brothers, Roscoe Shanks of Marble Hill, MO; Rev. Frank Shanks of Marble Hill, MO; L.J. Shanks of North Augusts, SC; four sisters, Almeta Baker of Marble Hill, MO; Verona Wilder of Marble Hill, MO; Lou Mazzarrella of Wood River, IL; Marybeth Grant of Wood River, IL; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
His parents and a son, Dewayne, preceded him in death.
Services were Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, followed by burial in Baker Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW of Marble Hill.
