He was born in Moscow June 30, 1927, to George E. and Zelma C. Filiatreault O'Connor. While in Moscow, he attended Ursuline Academy before his family moved to Lewiston in 1937.
He completed the eighth grade at St. Stanislaus School in Lewiston and was a Lewiston High School graduate.
George served with the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II, from 1945 to 1947.
He and Zelda C. Gall were married Feb. 18, 1952, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lewiston.
George worked as a machinist for Jameson's in Lewiston from 1945 until 1961. At that time, he became a founding partner and owner of Industrial Parts and Machines in Lewiston, now known as Tisco. The business sold in 1982, and he continued working there until retirement in 1992.
George attended Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Stanislaus Catholic churches in Lewiston. He was a life member of the Lewiston Elks Lodge and belonged to the American Legion for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Lewiston Eagles Aerie No. 631. George enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on Lake Coeur d'Alene, as well as bird hunting, trap shooting, fishing and boating. He also spent many years working behind the scenes at the Lewiston Roundup, operating the calf shoots.
