Charles Baker Luton

Charlie was born in the township of Bakers Station, Tennessee (sometimes written as Baker Station).

His early life is not clear, but he did complete the fourth grade, and by age 16, he was living with a cousin, John Savelly age 43, in Davidson County, Tennessee, as a farm laborer.

Charles first married Lillian Hendricks on August 12, 1886 in Hunt County, Texas. They had three children, Allie born 1888, Dorris Wesley born in 1891, and Sue born in 1893.

They were divorced, and both remarried. Charles married Ima Lloyd (daughter of William B. and Clara) sometime around 1912. (Lillian married Benjamin R. Page and they had 2 sons--Ben Jr. and Drew.)

By 1913, Ima and Charlie were living in Muskogee, Oklahoma where he worked as the manager of the Muskogee Stove Company. Two years later they returned to Ima's former home in Coffeyville, Kansas, where her mother and brother were living and Charlie and Ima are listed in the Kansas census, Charlie as a laborer. Most of his adult life, Charles traveled, working in sales.

By 1925, they had settled in Denison which would be their last home. In the 1930 census, Charles listed his occupation as "mercantile" in the household industry.

No children were born to them as far as is known.

Charlie died at home in Denison, survived by his wife Ina. His son Dorris Wesley Luton informed the death certificate.
