This grave is most likely in the cemetery on Red Brush Hill Road off 1306, known as the Kimbler Cemetery, but it is on a private farm now. There are only a few graves identified in the cemetery and the others are unmarked.

Joseph was the son of Anderson Kimbler and Katherine Lane.

The first marriage of Joseph Kimbler was to a second cousin, as he and Lourania Kimbler shared a second great-grandfather in common. Both were descendants of Henry Sewell Kimbler: Joseph through his son George Washington Kimbler and grandson Anderson Kimbler, and Lourania through Henry’s son Ebenezer and grandson William. Lourania appeared on the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Johnson County, KY as both “Lurana” and “Lurena” with her parents and siblings.

Joseph and Lourania's children were Margaret, Newton, William Henry, Anderson, Nancy Jane, John Wesley, James Marion and General Logan.

After Lourania's death in 1845, Joseph married Sarah Rigsby. He was about thirty years older than Sarah, who was the daughter of his half-sister, Martha Jane Kimbler Rigsby, daughter of Anderson Kimbler and Elizabeth Sadler. At the time of their marriage, Joseph was 49 and Sarah was 20, the same age as Joseph’s daughter, Nancy Jane, by his first marriage, and he had four other children who were older than her. On their marriage record, “born 1856” and “born 1871” are written next to Joseph and Sarah’s names, but Joseph couldn’t possibly have been born in 1856; his mother died in 1850.
