Ellyn Joan Atkinson, Nov. 4, 1925-Nov. 19, 2007, Ellyn Joan Atkinson, 82, 9032 W. 400 North, Rochester, passed away at 11:44 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She was born on Nov. 4, 1925, in Fulton County, the daughter of Darwin Dwight and Edith (Clevenger) Heeter. On June 4, 1949, in Rochester, she married Wayne R. Atkinson. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1996. Mrs. Atkinson was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, was a member of the Moose Lodge and on the Rochester City Council. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and golfing. Survivors include her sons, Tom Atkinson, Rochester, and Mike and wife Phyllis Atkinson, Willis, Texas; daughter, Pat Cunningham, Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Gene Groves, Logansport; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bud, Alan and Charles Heeter, sisters, Margery Ellis, Lenora Sayger and Lucy Lane, and her parents. Private services and burial will take place. Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, is handling arrangements.
