Mrs. Charles Berg left this morning on the first stage of her journey to Finland. She sails from New York December 7. Mrs. Berg expects to visit Finland for aboout a year. Claude Stoeffel and family have rented her residence in Verdi; and will occupy it during her absence.

Oldtime Verdi Matron Is Dead
Funeral services for Mrs, Bertha Berg, Verdi resident for many years, who died at the home Friday night, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ross-Burke Company chapel, Rev. J. A. White, officiating. Interment will be in Crystal Peak cemetery.
A native of Finland, aged 88 years, for 44 years she resided in Verdi. Her husband was a shoemaker, making the boots and shoes worn by the lumberjacks in the early days. His death occurred 22 years ago.
Mrs. Berg was active in church and Red Cross work, and for 14 years had been treasurer of the Baptist Sunday school.
Surviving are a daughter and son, Mrs, Anna Holstrom of Verdi and Edward W. Berg of Verdi, Six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild survive.

Mrs. Bertha Berg Service Is Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Berg, who died January 16 at her home in Verdi, were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Ross-Burke Company chapel. The Rev. James A. White was the clergyman.
Selections, "Going Home," and "No Night There," were rendered by Mrs. Dorothy McLeod, accompanied by Mrs, Lula Grimmer, organist. Pallbearers wore Frank Durham, Charles G. Powning, Grover Hill, Harry Dickson, Charles Matson and A. T. Eveleth. Interment followed in the Crystal Peak Cemetery.
