Hugh Dent Ballard went to be with his Lord on September 6, 2000. Born November 22, 1908, on the family farm in Rutledge, Alabama, he was the youngest of ten* children. Baptized into Christ at the age of twelve, Hugh was a faithful Christian his entire life.
He attended Pharmacy school in Wichita, Kansas, and practiced pharmacy in Texas before serving his country for four years in the Navy during World War II. He returned to Alabama and married Ila Mae Bean in January of 1951 in Chilton County, Alabama. It was also in Alabama, that his daughter, Beba, and his son, Tommy were born.
He and his family returned to Dallas in 1965, where he was in business with his brother, Dr. Bibb Hunter Ballard, until the mid 1980s. The last four years of his life were spent in Seymour, Texas, near his daughter, living independently, enjoying life raising cattle, and being with his grandchildren. His family was his main priority. His grandchildren, Tara and Johnathan Studer, and Christopher, Aaron and Ashley Ballard will greatly miss his gentleness, quick wit and generosity. Nothing greater can be said about a man but that he served his God and family faithfully and enjoyed life to the end...
Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 9th, at the Restland Wildwood Chapel. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
*One sibling obit states "of ten children," one states "of eleven children."
