Miss Hattie Babb, a resident of this county for more than twenty-five years past, died at her home near this place on Thursday last, of consumption. Her remains were interred in the Vernon cemetery on Friday afternoon.
Her brother Edmund Babb and sister Mary Louise (Babb) Taylor are buried in this family plot along with her brother in law Rev. Robert Francis Taylor.
This family owned a large parcel of land extending from what is now North Vernon to Vernon, it was called Hideaway Farm and was finally sold to settle the estate of Mary Louise Babb Taylor in 1924. The Wills and estate papers of all of them are at the Jennings County Public Library.
