Daniel Everette Arnold, of Callaway, Fla., passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at his residence. Dan was born on April 12, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Earnie Arnold and June Myers and graduated from Northside High School in Des Moines in 1967. He then entered the United States Air Force where he served honorably for over 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He spent his career at Offutt AFB in Nebraska, Turkey and Korea before retiring at Plattsburgh AFB in New York where he had met Donna, the love of his life.

He received many awards during his military career, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. Upon retirement, he continued to support various military organizations and was a life member of AMVETS Post 2298 and VFW Post 8205 in Parker, Fla. He was the manager of the Tyndall FAMCAMP for 16 years, initiating many improvements, including overseeing the building of the recreation center and almost doubling the number of available sites. Dan thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Donna Arnold of Callaway, Fla.; sons Craig Friedel (Tina,) of Wisconsin, Timothy Arnold (Suzanne,) of Texas, and Jason Alder (Laura,) of Minnesota; sister, Elinor Meugniot (Richard,) of Iowa; step-mother, Faye Arnold, of Iowa; sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Christie and Debbie Peterson of Florida; brother-in-law, Donald Friedel (Johanna,) of Texas; and four grandchildren, Matthew Friedel, Katelyn Alder, Eloise Alder, and Oliver Alder.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earnie Arnold; his mother, June Myers Arnold; and his brother, Marny Arnold.

A celebration of life with full military honors will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the VFW Post 8205 in Parker, Fla.
