Vanceburg - James Ora Kegley, 92, of Vanceburg, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at his home.

Mr, Kegley was a farmer and a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church at Stricklett.

He was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Stricklett, the son of the late George Henry and Anna Elliott Kegley.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Evans Kegley, who resides in a nursing home in Florence; three sons, Bobby (Mable) Kegley of Vanceburg, Paul Kegley of Vanceburg, and Sherman (Judy) Kegley of Vanceburg; two daughters, Ruby (Jim) Rayburn of Vanceburg and Louise Fultz of Burtonville; two step-sons, Gary Evans of Union, and Ted Clinger of Florence; a brother, Clarence (Thelma) Kegley of Decatur, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Crump of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Virginia Carpenter of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren, Brenda Smith, Patricia Schneider, Marsha Wells, Karen Edwards, Carol Werline, Tonya Brooks, Stanley Hord, Shelly Kegley and Buddy Kegley; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vada Rigdon and Dorothy Jester; three brothers, Elwood Kegley, Clyde Kegley and Willard Kegley; and two grandchildren, Kimberly Hord and Carmilla Kegley.

Services are 1 p.m., today at Union Baptist Church with Brother Roy Machen and Brother Milton Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in the McEldowney Cemetery at Stricklett with Kevin Wells, Brent Wells, Jacob Kegley, Buddy Kegley, Kenneth Smith, Chad Hord and Stanley Hord serving as pallbearers. Visitation was Sunday at Dickerson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service today at the church.
