She retired from Washington County Hospital. She previously worked at Ward Leonard Electronics and Fairchild Aircraft. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. She was a member of Funkstown Moose Lodge, VFW 1936 Auxiliary, M.O.C.A., B.P.O. Elks 378 and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her husband, Leon A. Spessard; one son, Robert Spessard of Hampton, Va.; one sister, Kate Boward of Hagerstown; one brother, Fred Hemphill of Fresno, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Henry; and two brothers, Don Hemphill and Blaine Hemphill.
Services were held at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstow; burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
