On July 7, 2014, Lonnie Junior King moved to his heavenly home. Born in Little Rock, Alabama on October 29, 1943, he passed away at the age of 70. Lonnie was a man of character: A character of service, compassion, devotion, and so much more. The gift he had for building and business allowed him to be in the position to assist those in need, to build the dream homes for many families, and to be there to help his own family as often as possible which was probably his greatest priority. Nothing made him happier than for his family and friends to be gathered together, to be surrounded by those he loved. As we hold on to his memories, let's not forget the binds of love that he held tight to his heart. Let us live on in a way that would honor him. With the character he taught us by example, the most important being in a relationship with his Savior. It is through that relationship alone that we again will be with Lonnie one day. On the other side where he will be waiting with arms open wide. Until that day, live, laugh, love in a way that would make him proud.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Jackson King; mother, Mary Frances King Rutherford; step father, David Arthur Rutherford; and brother, Jerry Rocky King.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Ann Bray King; daughters, Loretta Floyd (Doug Williams) and Annette King, both of Pensacola, FL; brother, Jack (Mary) King of Harriman, TN; sisters, Frances (Archie) Miller of Pensacola, FL and Elsa (James) Mathews of Robertsdale, AL; granddaughters, Britany (Aaron) Chancery, Brooke Hoomes, and Jessie Joyner all of Pensacola, FL; two great grandchildren, Riley & Ayden Chancery of Pensacola; and several adoring nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as a large host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Chapel North at 10:00 a.m on Thursday, July 10, 2014 with Sis. Hazel Godwin and Bro. Clyde Hughes, officiating. Burial will follow in Little Flock Church Cemetery, Molino, FL.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
