Clara A Bond passed away just before noon on the morning of July 6,after three weeks of hospital and Maples residency.

She was born in Wills Point Texas, to the late Nathan William and Susie Asalie(Craig) Gartman. the eighth of nine children. After the deaths of her parents, Clara was fostered by her father's sister, Dicie A. Gartman Rodgers and Marshall Anderson in Southwestern Oklahoma. After acting as valedictorian at her graduating class of Midway High School, Greer County OK. her brother George brought her back to Dallas to attend Draughons Buisness School. Eventually she got a job with the Retail Merchants Credit Assn. achieving a top secret clearance. During this time she met the love of her life, Lester O. Bond who was undergoing a advanced infanity training in Louisiana. When Lester left with orders for California, he sent Clara tickets to join him so they could be married. While there Clars landed a job at what was advertised as the University of California, but was actually the Atomic Energy Commision the Manhattan Project. Following Lester's overseas orders. Clara lived first with her grandfather's 3rd wife Josephine(Sechrist_Gartman and then with Lester's parents Lon and Esta (Brown) Bond in Olean Mo. After Lester was released from active duty, he and Clara settled in Springfield Mo. where Clara worked for Drury College. After the birth of their daughter, Sue, Clara quit work for a while and was active in the N.A.L.C. ladies auxiliary, including state presidency. She eventually worked for Ryder Trucking then trained to be a court reporting , she moved to Texas for a while to be near her brothers and sisters, but eventually returned to Springfield. She enjoyed helping with Meals on Wheels and being a part of University Heights Baptist Church and the group of ladies who enjoyed a lunch fellowship after a Sunday morning services.

She is predeceased by her parents, he beloved husband Lester Bond, brothers, George, Arthur, Frank and Luther Gartman, sisters, Dessie Jones, Dorothy Murlin, Estelle Gartman, and a daughter, Carol Ann Bond. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Gartman (Paul Hering) a dear sister in law, Anna Curtis(Carl) a daughter Sue Rees(Henry) three granddaughters, Regina St John (Geoff) Mariana Booth(Greg) Alicia Cecconi(David) nine great grandchildren, Holly and Clarissa Perry, Grace, Josiah, Rebecca, Abigail, and Charlotte St John, Dante and Rees Cecconi, one great great granddaughter, Kyra Perry, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Clara's family would like to thank the staff of the Gardens who took care of her after her stroke and the staff at Cox South and the aples who cared for her in her final illnesses during the last month.

Funeral services will be Thursday Juy 10, 2014 at 10a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Interment will be at White Chapels Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday July 9, 2014 6-8p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
