Born in Nahunta, GA, she was the youngest of sixteen children born to the late Zibe and Alice Roberson King. She was a graduate of Nahunta High School, Class of 1964.
She married Donald D. Johnson, of Pierce County, GA in 1966 and came to Nassau County. The newlyweds settled in Kings
Ferry before moving to Blackrock. Mrs. Johnson had worked in the Nassau County Public School System at various Cafeterias around Nassau County. After their children left the school system, she worked as a Private CNA for a short period
of time. As her children brought her grandchildren, she devoted her time to nurturing and taking care of them. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had been members of Blackrock Baptist Church before moving to the Journey Church.
She leaves behind, her husband of 48 years, Donald D. Johnson, Yulee, FL, daughters, Donna Lee Atkins (Scott), Yulee, FL, Kathy Hannaford (Dana), Fernandina Beach, FL,
Sherry Parrott (Lester), Middleburg, FL, Joanne Mastroianni (Rob), Woodbine, GA, brothers and sisters, (living) Lois Corbitt, Mary Clubb, Edward King, Marie Petty, Willene Proctor, Melvin King, Barney King and Zibe King and (deceased)Floyd King, Lorena Griffin, Leroy King, Mack King, Loretta Waldron, Junior King,Erma Crews, Parnell King, Ervin King & David King, four grandchildren, Allie and Seth Atkins, Haydon and Zachary Hannaford as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Hall, officiating.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, at the funeral home from 11:30 am until the hour of service. Mrs. Johnson will be laid to rest in Greenpine Cemetery.
