Funeral services for Owen Allen Ashford, 65, of Watertown, were held Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at Hunter Funeral Home. Rev. Ben Fuston and Rev. David Lawson officiated with burial following in Eastern Gate Cemetery.
Mr. Ashford passed away on Monday, November 14, 2005, at the University Medical Center. He was born on August 28, 1940 in DeKalb County and he was a member of Poplar Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ashford and Maggie Bell Johnson Ashford; one granddaughter, Gidget Patterson, and two brothers: James and Billy Wayne Ashford.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Anderson Ashford of Watertown; three sons: Ricky Allen Ashford of Alexandria, Eddie Wayne (Kathy) Ashford of Smithville, and Willie Edward "Junior" Ashford of Watertown; eight grandchildren: Dana Stanley, Ricky Allen Ashford Jr., Brad and Wesley Ashford, Eddie Wayne Ashford Jr., John Issac Ashford, Amy Marie Ashford, and Emily Diane Ashford; six great-grandchildren: Rachel, John, Caleb, Harlee, Emma Lee, and Cody; two sisters: Mildred Murphy and Freda Rose Maxwell both of Smithville; one brother, Jerry Douglas Ashford of Smithville, as well as serveral nieces and nephews.
