PITTSBURGH — Geoffrey Scott Stevens Joslin, 49, of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at the home of his parents, Karen and Bradley Joslin of Meadville, following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 26, 1965, at Meadville City Hospital, a son of William Stevens and Karen Garfield Stevens Joslin.

Geoffrey was a 1984 graduate of Meadville High School where he participated in the marching and concert bands. He graduated from Edinboro University with a bachelor's degree in sociology and was a member of the Edinboro marching band. He was employed at Bethesda Children's Home in Meadville as a supervisor and worked at Value City in Meadville and was subsequently promoted to manager of its Plymouth, Mich., store. Later, while in Michigan, he worked at Carpenter's designing and constructing venues from concerts to car shows, including the designing and converting of an ice rink into a theater for the production of "The Phantom of the Opera," as a fund raiser. In the following years, Geoffrey returned to Meadville where his creative side and love of theater became a reality when he managed the Academy Theatre. He loved every inch of the theatre. He then became an asset manager at The Movies at Meadville. Following his desire to move to Pittsburgh, Geoffrey accepted a job as an assistant manager for Alfred Angelo Bridal Couture and within one year was the manager of its Monroeville store.

Geoffrey was of the Protestant faith, and in addition to his love of theater, he enjoyed classical music and his love of food led him to cooking and he could have made an excellent chef. He was a former board member of the Crawford County Historical Society.

Survivors include his parents, Karen and Bradley Joslin of Meadville; his biological father, William Stevens of North Carolina; a brother, Paul Joslin and his wife, Stacey, of Saegertown; three nieces, Allie, Maria and Eryn Joslin; a nephew, Cody Hartzell; his beloved dog, Samantha; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Frances Garfield, Claude and Florence Stevens, and Willard Joslin.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
