Lonnie Eugene Hall, Jr., 93, of Peak Street, Columbus, NC died Friday, July 4, 2014 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC.
Born in Landrum, SC, he was the son of the late Lonnie Eugene, Sr. and Lillian Kelly Hall. For 69 years he was married to Harriet Fortune Hall who died in 2011. Lonnie was a Veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force having served in WWII. He was active in the community in numerous capacities over the years including: Former District Chairman of Boy Scouts of America, Polk District; Former Member of the Columbus Town Council; Former member of the Columbus Zoning Board. He retired as a supervisor from the Label Mill, Alkahn, Columbus, NC after 41 years of service. Lonnie was a member of the Columbus First Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Board of Deacons, was Superintendent of Sunday School, Chairman of the Finance Committee and sang in the Choir.
Surviving are: a son, Wayne Eugene Hall (Judy) of Shelby, NC; a daughter, Jill Hall Taylor (Eddie) of Green Hill, NC; Four grandchildren, Misti Hall Humphries, Tyler Eugene Hall, Charlie Hall Taylor and Clancey Lamar Taylor and 7 great- grandchildren Josie, Porter, Piper, Kelsey, Madison, Cayden and Ava. Also surviving are a sister, Martha Hall Davis of Inman, SC and a brother, Roy Hall of Spartanburg, SC.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in the Columbus First Baptist Church, Columbus, NC
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC with Military Rites by the Polk Memorial Burial Squad.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 PM, Tuesday just prior to the service in Columbus First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
