Edna May Bowman, 112, of Candler, N.C., was born in Lebanon on June 3, 1901, the eldest child of Ernest B. Rand and Alice (Varney) Rand. Edna passed peacefully at Pisgah Nursing Home, a Seventh Day Adventist Community, located in Candler, N.C., on April 19, 2014.

She leaves behind her sister, Doris (Rand) Hodge, her brother Myron Rand and his wife Ruth (Jones) Rand; and one sister- in-law, Clara Rand, wife of Walter Rand. Other survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mary (Johnson) Winchell; eight grandchildren, Kathleen M. (Winchell) Larochelle of Wilmington, Del., Ronald N. Labrie of Greenville, S.C., Robert J. Labrie and wife Judith (Hilt) Labrie of Fayetteville, Ga., Lawrence J. (Larry) Winchell of Rochester, N.H., Lorraine E. Labrie of Greenville, S.C., Sharon E. (Winchell) Clancy and husband William (Bill) Clancy of Buxton, Elaine P. (Winchell) Brown of Stewartstown, N.H., and Lorna C. Labrie and husband William (Bill) Mckevlin of Boynton Beach, Fla.; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) J. Bowman; daughter, Carolyn (Winchell) Labrie, whom was also a resident of Pisgah Nursing Home, son, Lawrence Winchell; five sisters, Eva L. (Rand) Blanchard, Estella A. (Rand) Trafton, Emma (Rand) Wright, Bernice M. (Rand) Jenness-Cole, and Marian J. (Rand) Grant, and five brothers, Fred V. Rand, Milton D. Rand, Ernest B. Rand Jr., Walter Rand and Robert Rand.

At her families request, Edna will have a graveside memorial service at a later date located at Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis, Fla. (Maine Sunday Telegram 5/4/2014)
