Stonington-- Mrs. Henry (Essie Markwell) Peabody, 93, of Decatur, formerly of Stonington, died 8:15 a.m. Saturday (May 6, 1989) in St Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Connolly-McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, with visitation one hour before services. burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Memorials:Christian County Heart Association or donor's choice.
Mrs. Peabody was born in Mount Augurn, daughter of Millard and Matilda Markwell. She was a former nurse/receptionist for a Stonington doctor, a member of Stonington United Methodist Church and 50 year member of Stonington Order of the Eastern Star. She married Henry N. Peabody in 1937. He died in 1973.
Surviving is her sister, Mrs. George (Reva) Beal of Moweaqua.
Three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
