Melvin Roosevelt Crabtree, Jr., 82, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Born in Roxboro, NC, he was the son of the late Melvin R. Crabtree, Sr. and Myrtle Chatham Crabtree. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Inez Crabtree; two daughters, Joni Crabtree and Sheila Hock and her husband, David; two grandchildren, David Wayne Hock and his wife, Amanda, and Ashley Lowrance and her husband, Matt; three great-grandchildren, Dawsyn Hock, Chloe Hock, and Blakely Lowrance; two sisters, Murriel Dillon and Mildred Underwood; brother, Morris Crabtree; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 West Broadway St., Hopewell, VA 23860A. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Berry's Grove Cemetery, 9628 Berry Rd., Timberlake, NC 27583.
