AUGUSTA - Gertrude I. Lombard, 85, formerly of Winthrop, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Facility in Augusta. She was born the fifth child of Ethel (Dawbin) Perry and Ernest Perry on Dec. 14, 1928, in Hallowell.
Gert was educated at Randolph grammar school and had been employed by various shoe factories in the area.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Carolyn Walker, Dorothy McCarty, Phoebe Alexander and Alice Perry; and her brothers, Francis Perry, Ernest Perry and Norris Perry.
She is survived by her sisters, Hilda and her husband, Keith Whitmore, of Gardiner, and Janice Kelman, of Gardiner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be at Hallowell Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. (Kennebec Journal 7/2/2014)
