Private, Co. A 84 Pa. Infantry. Killed in the battle of Kernstown.

From the Hollidaysburg Democratic Standard, 14 May 1862:

"The Dead Of The 84th- The remains of Privates Paul Long and Job Miller, of the 84th regiment, who fell at the battle of Winchester, arrived in the train on Monday evening, and were conveyed to the Town Hall, from whence the funeral will take place this (Wednesday) afternoon at 3 o'clock. Private Long was a married man and leaves a wife and several children."

...........................

from contributor David Richards (46564851):

A comrade, Jacob Weidensall and native of Hollidaysburg, wrote shortly after the battle at Kernstown: "Paul Lang was as brave a man as ever Shouldered a gun. he was shot through the thigh but did not quit firing till a ball went through his bowels. he fell not more then fifteen yards of the Rebels. after the fight was over, I came by him. he spoke to me, held out his hand saying, Good bye Jake I am going."

Paul M. Long's military service record with the 84th P.V. at the National Archives in Washington, DC mistakenly records his name as "PAUL McLANG"
