Circus Performer. A member of the family of famous aerialists, 'The Flying Wallendas.' The wife of Karl Wallenda's grandnephew, Steven Wallenda, she was born Elizabeth Pintye. She married Steven Wallenda in 1985, but later divorced him and married Adil Shaikh. She began training at the age of 17, but shortly after became ill with cancer. In 1987, she had her right leg amputated, and in 1988, she had parts of both her lungs removed. She later returned to the act becoming the only person to walk the high wire with an artificial leg. She retired from performing in 1990. She passed away from the effects of the cancer on March 20, 1996, when she was only 28 years old.
