Lynn Bucknell, 89, of Charles City, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Lynn Joseph Bucknell was born January 8, 1919 in Floyd County, the son of Guy and Oma (Horn) Bucknell. He graduated from the Charles City High School. Lynn proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. On November 19, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ruby Olson at Minneapolis, Minn. They lived all their lives in Charles City where Lynn worked for 35 years with First Security Bank. For several years he managed the First Security branch in Ionia. Lynn also farmed from 1966 to 1975. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church. His interests included fishing, camping and traveling with his family. Lynn was mechanically inclined and enjoyed repairing old cars. His family was always important to Lynn and he looked forward to sharing his life with them.
Living family members include his wife, Ruby Bucknell of Charles City; seven children, Carolyn Simpson of Hamilton, Mont. and her children, Karol Knight and Karla (Doug) Muckler, Leland (Shirley) Bucknell of Charles City and his family, Mistine Bunn, LeAnn, Kim and Kristi Bucknell, Dean (Diana) Bucknell of Charles City and their family, Thomas (Missy) Bucknell, Duane (Cathy) Bucknell of Chambers, Nebr. and their family, Clint (Jess) Bucknell, Chad (Jill) Bucknell, Sarah (Jeremy) Davis, Andrew Bucknell and Laura Bucknell, Doralyn (Rodney) Bigelow of Mechanicsville and their family, Quintin and Clayton Bigelow, Roger (Lynda) Bucknell of Thornton and their family, Elizabeth, Emily and Tiffany Bucknell, and Robyn (Rod) Jones of Clarence and their son Cole Jones; a son-in-law, Bryan Williams of Colfax; 11 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lila Carpenter of Plainfield, and Laura Johnson of Wichita, Kans.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Loralyn K. Williams; a brother, Lloyd Bucknell; and a son-in-law, LeRoy D. Simpson.
