POQUOSON - Dorabelle F. Cox, 80, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at her home. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, with a degree in music education; a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was choir director for 18 years; a member of the Poquoson Public Schools Retired Teachers Association; a member of the D.A.R., Charles Parish Chapter; and a homemaker.

Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Richard Gordon Cox, and her parents, H. Garland and Nonie Amory Forrest.

She is survived by her children, Richard G. Cox Jr., Barbara Overman and husband, Rhett, and Van F. Cox; a brother, Howard G. Forrest Jr. and wife, Betty; two grandchildren, Amory Anne Rosso and Robert L. Hodges III; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lozaw, Christopher Lozaw, and Dylan Lozaw.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church followed by a funeral service at the church at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Bill G. Davidson. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. At other times, the family will be at the home of her brother, Howard, at The Chesapeake, 209 Leeward Way, Newport News.
