MILDRED JANE BRINKMAN

COLO - Mildred Jane Brinkman, 94, of Colo, died Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2000) at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls from respiratory failure.

She was born July 31, 1905 in Collins, Iowa, the daughter of John B. and Minnie (Shearer) Kimberley. After graduating from high school, Mildred attended Capital City Commercial College and then worked at the Collins and Mingo Banks.

She was united in marriage to Norman Henry (N.H.) Brinkman on June 4, 1927 in Collins, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1975. She was a homemaker and was very active in her church and community. She enjoyed music and taught piano lessons for many years.

Mildred was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church where she had served 35 years as church organist, UMW, Cloverleaf Club, Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a past state officer, Priscilla Bridge Club and a former member of the board of directors Exchange State Bank of Collins.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Maxine Brinkman, of Mason City, and Harold and Jan Brinkman, of Nevada, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary J. and Dean Harms, of Ames; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Minnie Maxwell, of Washington, Iowa and Kay Armstrong of Nevada, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Colo United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Russ Burnett and the Rev. Jim Louk officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

The Bacon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
